Closing the Loop on 360 Feedback: Building a Bridge between Employees and Development


The Challenge

Our client’s employees had never been in the same room together. Scattered across the globe, they worked by phone and email, with little or no interpersonal connections to bind them into a team. What were their individual strengths and weaknesses? How could they relate to each other better? What areas needed the most work?

The Solution

The Center Group implemented a comprehensive program based on an online 360° performance survey. For each employee, we identified nine different “raters” (board members, vendors, customers, and others), explained the evaluation criteria to all participants and answered their questions along the way.

Next, we analyzed the feedback and debriefed employees (individually) in a comfortable environment where they learned about their strengths and weaknesses as observed by others. While many 360° assessments provide only a numerical rating, The Center Group enhances this tool with a narrative component that helps employee fully grasp the subtleties of the feedback.

Then, the expertise of a Center Group organizational development specialist, we built upon the 360° learning’s to facilitate an off-site retreat that showcased each employee in their best light and fostered a “team spirit” among the group.

Finally, we linked the 360° results with our integrated, online development tool, helping participants make improvements in key areas through access to a library of professional resources.

Our client reports that the team has become much more cohesive, and their employees tell us that the overall experience has provided valuable insights and development opportunities.
